Gross-Motor
If you have been keeping up with the last few posts on this blog, you are well aware that Natalie and Isaac have both started to crawl. Isaac is definitely our mover of the two. He picked up crawling November 21st (7 1/2 months) and has still not been content with all his movement. Almost a week after he started crawling, our little man wanted to stand. He started pulling up on everything, including the new baby gate that we set up in the house.
Natalie was very content with laying on her back watching Isaac do all the manual labor. It wasn't until Thanksgiving Break that Natalie decided it was her turn to attempt to move around. She started rocking and rolling around the room and got very frustrated that she still couldn't keep up with her brother. Natalie introduced the army-crawl on December 17th and now both kids are very happy.
Language
If Isaac is our mover, then Natalie is our talker. We can't help but watch the Nov. 14th video over and over again as it is too cute. Natalie paved the way into the world of verbal communication with "Dada" and included "Ba", "Bla", and "Ma" in her vocabulary. We're still waiting for a really good "Mama" to video.
Isaac just started talking a few weeks ago with "Dada" and is working on building his vocabulary along with his sister.
Routine
Finally both babies have accepted the fact that a daily routine is an important and necessary structure in their lives. They are sleeping regularly at night, eating baby food, taking 2 naps a day, and playing very hard. All of these have lead to consistently happy babies, and we are extremely thankful for this.
Story-time and Bath-time
This is by far the most fun time of the day. We try to read a book every night with both babies. Sarah is usually setting up wash cloths and bath seats in the bathroom, so Caleb will lay down on the ground with both babies. He will pull out a book like "The Very Hungry Caterpillar" with both babies exhibiting very different responses. Natalie is very intent about her reading and excited about holding the book with both hands and studying the pages. Isaac is just as interested but cannot stay still enough to focus on the book through its entirety.
Following story-time, we do the most exciting event of the day . . . Bath-time! The Puddles absolutely love playing in the tub with their toys while they are getting cleaned. They reach out for every toy they can get their hands on. Plus, the warm water calms them down to prepare them for their evening sleep.
Hopefully, this catches you up on the current happenings on our Puddles. They have been such a joy. Obviously our hands are full and very busy all the time, but God is good and has provided the time, resources, and strength necessary for every day.
