Grandma Pond went peacefully to be with the Lord on Monday night. Caleb will be flying with his brother and parents to honor Grandma at a Memorial Service on Wednesday, June 29th. Please continue to pray for our family during this time.

Mary Maxine Pond, 87, of Long Beach, CA passed away peacefully at home on June 20, 2011 in the presence of her family. Maxine brought encouragement and beauty to those she touched through her volunteer work at Community Hospital of Long Beach and the Long Beach and Lakewood Garden Clubs. Born October 21, 1923 in Marion, IN to Chester and Lillian Rowland, the family moved to California when Maxine was two. She grew up in San Pedro and Wilmington, graduated from Banning High, and resided in Long Beach since 1954, proud to be a full-time homemaker and mother. Maxine is survived by Herbert Pond, her husband of 66 years; son Steven Pond; son Eugene Pond and Carol Pond; grandson Nathan Pond and Rosa Pond; grandson Caleb Pond and Sarah Pond; and four great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, June 29 at 3:00 pm at Forest Lawn Cypress located at 4471 Lincoln Ave., Cypress, CA 90630. Please sign the guestbook at www.presstelegram.com/obituaries
